Find your dream Job here: Operator Technician - GGS Tracking Code 216569-914 Job Description The Operator Technician operates and maintains the gas turbine generating units, all electrical and electronic equipment, and other plant facilities at the Groton Generation Station (GGS) - two units. Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) generates and transmits electricity to member-owners in a nine state area. BEPC operates and maintains the Groton Generation Station (GGS), a gas fired peaking station near Groton, SD. This station operates to meet electric power demands. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems. This position may allow access to privileged information relating to such assets or systems. This position will be required to strictly adhere to all Basin Electric policies, procedures, and programs applicable to the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements. Required Skills This position requires continuous sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and reaching; frequent bending, kneeling, and using keyboard/computer; and occasional crawling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision and good hearing. Working conditions may frequently include chemicals and noise; and occasionally extreme heat and cold, dirt and dust. This position must be respirator qualified. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Required Experience Required: Completion of a two-year degree in electrical, instrument & control, mechanical or operating program and three years of operating industrial, combustion turbine or coal-based power plant experience; or five years' experience in electrical, instrument & control, mechanical or operating industrial, combustion turbine or coal-based power plant experience. DOT gas pipeline drug and alcohol testing. Knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, mechanical or plant operations; computer skills and proficiency in Word programs and Outlook. A valid driver's license.
